Friday Thrifts.

Did you notice that today is Friday and this post isn’t a Fun Film Friday post?  And did you notice that there was no Fun Film Friday post last week?  I’m bad and I totally forgot about it last week!  I remembered on Saturday.  And now I’m disgruntled with Fun Film Friday.  Apparently I’m bad at 52 week projects!

Today after work I wandered on over to the thrift store.  Mega good day today!  When I finally made it home I had a card from my best friend, Aaron, waiting for me.  I put the photo in a special spot in my office, right beside a photo of Eric and Juniper.  There’s Matt, Darla and Aaron!  So cute!

And now on to my thrift store finds!  I love bubble lights.  Have you ever seen those during the Christmas season?  Growing up my family always had them on the Christmas tree.  Eric and I bought a set of new bubble lights last year, but we always talked about getting some vintage sets.  They’re really pricey though!  And look what I spotted today!  Two sets of bubble lights!  Now these are only replacement bulbs, but Eric thinks we can find a strand to use them in.

They were $3.99 a pack AND 50% off. Oh my mega deal!

I saw this thing in the kitchen area and grabbed it right away.  It’s a button maker!  It’s metal and really really heavy!  I’m sure they didn’t know what it was since it was sitting with kitchen gadgets.

These go for quite a bit of money online. And I bought it for $4.99!

Do you ever buy yourself a Christmas gift?  I do!  Well I actually used some Christmas money sent to me by my parents, but I did buy something for myself that I normally wouldn’t buy.  I bought a fabulous new sweater!  Eric is really not a fan of it.  He said that only redeeming quality was that it sure was Smartzy…which means it has loud obnoxious colors/patterns.  I love it!

And she’s so cute!  I caught Juniper spying on the mail lady this afternoon.

She likes to stand up at the front door and say hello to the UPS drivers, FedEx drivers and anyone else who steps foot on the front porch. The mail lady always says “Hello Kitty!”

Don’t you just want to pat that little round tummy?!

She’s the official door greeter. She’ll even say hello to the Jehovah’s Witnesses stopping by! Come by and she’ll say hello to you too!

The Teal Cat Project.

Have you ever heard of the Teal Cat Project?  The Teal Cat Project helps different kitty rescue programs with your help!  Donate $25 or $35 and you can adopt a teal cat of your own.  These cats aren’t always for sale, but I recently saw that there was a new litter up for adoption.  This is from the Teal Cat Project website…

“We wouldn’t put a litter up for adoption on election day unless it was quite urgent, and this is! Campaign number six is raising funds for Neighborhood Cats and their Hurricane Sandy Feral Relief Fund. The Hurricane Sandy Feral Relief Fund will provide food for kitty colonies, winter shelters to replace those lost in the storm, new feeding stations and other equipment and veterinary care to treat injury or illness resulting from the hurricane.”

I ordered a teal cat and it arrived today!

Each cat comes with a little tag and is numbered.

This card came with the cat.  “I am your teal cat.  I’m a cat made of ceramic, that helps cats made of fluff.”  Cute!

Like fur cats, we are each wild and unique.

Two kittens in a box!  Juniper started to get a little crazy with the ceramic cat in her box.  She was flailing her paws at it!

I love both of my adopted kittens.

One will rest on my book shelf tonight and one will rest on my pillow with me tonight. Hint…I’ll be sleeping with the furry one 🙂

One big and bright Birthday blanket!

A box arrived on my front porch from my sister today. Inside was a magnificent surprise! She crocheted me this awesome blanket! I actually knew that she was making the blanket because I picked out the yarn for it over a year ago.

I love obnoxious colors! She spent so much time of this blanket! I’m almost afraid to use it. Juniper was the official blanket inspector.

Juniper was walking with her toes spread apart because she was afraid to step on the holes between the flowers on the blanket. Cute baby kitty.

I don’t have the patience to complete a project like this, but I sure am glad my sister does!

Do you like my yellow headboard? I have a vintage bedroom set that is accent with those yellow panels. I love it so much! It’s incredibly heavy and awkward to move. I hope I never have to part with it.

My brother-in-law, Tim, made me this box where I can now store my jewels and gold pieces. It’s actually the perfect size for my necklaces!

And no package from Pennsylvania is complete without some Middleswarth chips and my sister’s famous salsa! Thanks again!!

Come on Friday!

This week has been another long long week at work!  I work for a sports company and since fall sports are starting up we’re busy as can be!  I’ve been working overtime most weeks, but I sure am sleepy!

I’m so excited for tomorrow though because a close friend of mine is visiting Seattle from the east coast!  She will be here with her husband on their honeymoon.  I can’t wait to catch up with her and show her around the city.  I miss my friends from the east coast so much!  I know I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again…it is not easy at all to make friends out here!  I don’t know how to go about it anymore.  I have tried to meet up with people I’ve met online…fail.  I met up with a vegan screen printer and she just kind of flaked out and didn’t return messages about meeting up again for real.  She gave me her number though.  I thought maybe it was me…but she gave me her number, so I don’t know what to make of it.  I seriously have more friends that live in other states and countries that I’ve met online and through blogging.  I love you all dearly too!  I wish ya’ll would just move up here!

I like Seattle but it kind of makes me feel like a downer.  I like the city, but I just wish I would have found more people here to be social with.  I miss going to pointless coffee shops with friends and movies and just sitting in cars and talking.  Sigh.

I am super excited for my friend Nicki to be here tomorrow  though!!  Cheer up sad Smartz.

Miss Juniper Purrito was super lovey and playful and cute tonight.  There’s usually an empty cardboard box around the house just for her to play in and with.  She loves her boxes!

The Mother of all Garage Sales and a weird kitten.

Today was the “Mother of all Garage Sales” in Everett. Eric and I started the yard sailin’ adventure at 9am and finished a little after noon! We went to about 30 or 40 yard sales! At one of the first yard sales I found this Polaroid Land Camera in basically new condition. This also came in a carrying case for only $8!!

These flash bulbs were also in the box.

Fuji makes film for the beauty! I will be ordering some tonight! I saw a small letter press at one house. It was a gem I think. It had three trays of type face. For only $100. I was going to buy it and a guy in front of me whipped out a $100 bill. I shake my fist at you sir.

She was doing her best Big Mouth Billy Bass impression.

She likes to lay on the floor and push off of things with her back feet. She also pulls herself across the carpet with her front legs.

Kitty sittin’.

Sadly Juniper Purrito will not be going on the trip with us.  I’m kind of sad about this, but she will be in good hands while we’re gone.  I wish she could travel with us, but I don’t think she’d be happy.  A good friend of ours will be kitty sitting while we’re away.

I made some thank you sweets for our friendly friend.  Friendly friend is allergic to nuts so I made him some vegan soynut butter fudge!  The soynut butter fudge doesn’t have as strong of a flavor as peanut butter, but I think not having my friendly friend go into anaphylactic shock makes up for that!  Thank you friendly friend!  And Juniper Purrito thanks you for the food and clean littler box!
